Bologna, July 28, 2026 – The head of police Vittorio Pisani arrived at 5:15 PM at the Police Headquarters in Bologna. A visit, that under the Two Towers, divided into three moments, according to what is learned: first for a meeting with the officials of the Police Headquarters, then for a discussion with the police unions and, finally, to greet the officers injured during the riot on the evening of the 20th, which broke out on the sidelines of the square convened by the mayor Matteo Lepore to stand by the family of Abderrahim Fakir. “I just came to say hello,” Pisani said quickly getting out of the car to the group of reporters, then entering the offices, accompanied by the police chief Gaetano Bonaccorso.
Fakir’s family: “We rely on the investigations”
A few minutes after his arrival, Yossra and Khadija Fakir, respectively niece and sister of the 42-year-old deceased, arrived. No statements to the press, except “we want to speak with the head of police. We are hurting, we are shattered. We rely on the investigations, on the judiciary. We hope that light and clarity will be shed on what happened.” Fakir’s family then went up to the Police Headquarters
During the urban riot, 64 officers were injured
On the evening of Monday, July 20, about eighty officers from the mobile unit faced the urban riot triggered by over two hundred rioters who took to the streets following a demonstration to demand truth and justice for Abderrahim Fakir, the 42-year-old Moroccan who died in Pilastro at the climax of a police detention. During the clashes that lasted several hours into the night, a total of 64 officers were injured with prognoses ranging from 3 to 35 days. For these incidents, the Bologna prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation file that now formally sees twelve people under investigation, accused of disguise, throwing objects, resistance, and violence against public officials. A number that could also grow very soon, as the police continue to examine the hundreds of videos of the clashes.
