Modena, August 4, 2026 – Serious accident in the afternoon on the A22 Brenner motorway, at km 305, southbound. A van rear-ended a car and, unfortunately, in the collision one of the two occupants of the first vehicle could not be saved.
Despite the prompt assistance of the 118 medical team, who arrived on site with an emergency doctor and ambulance, it was not possible to save him. The man (passenger of the van) died instantly, trapped in the vehicle’s metal wreckage. The driver, however, was seriously injured.
Section of the motorway closed
In order to allow the helicopter to land and enable the medical team to operate safely, the motorway was closed to traffic, causing disruptions and long queues currently recorded in both directions.

The situation is being managed by officers of the Modena Nord traffic police subsection, who immediately intervened on site along with firefighters and medical personnel.
