Coriano (Rimini), July 16, 2026 – For the murder of Tania Sperindio, 63 years old, her ex-husband, Mario Bonifazi, 71 years old, was arrested. They had been separated for three years and divorced for one.
The crime took place last night in Mulazzano, in the municipality of Coriano (Rimini), on via Agello.
After being interrogated at the Carabinieri barracks in Riccione, Bonifazi was taken to the Rimini prison shortly after 7 this morning.
The confession of the crime over the phone
According to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri, it was the man himself who called the emergency number, confessing the crime. The officers, who intervened together with the investigative unit of Rimini, found him in the house next to the woman’s body.
From the first findings on the corpse, a deep head wound emerges, compatible with a violent blow inflicted with a blunt object, a hammer, which was seized.
The motive for the Coriano crime
It seems that the man, shortly before the crime, was at the club playing cards. Then, around 6 pm, he met his ex-wife at the house on via Agello where, together, they welcomed a surveyor to carry out an appraisal in order to then sell the house.
After the surveyor left, an argument apparently broke out, for economic reasons, and in the boiler room of the house Bonifazi attacked Tania, it seems with a hammer.

Two children and that flower shop in Riccione
The couple had two children and in the past had run a flower shop in Riccione. The public prosecutor Paola Bonetti intervened on site and interrogated the 71-year-old during the night. At the end of the interrogation, the man was taken to prison.
From the first checks, there are no previous complaints filed by the victim against the ex-husband. The carabinieri notified the couple’s son, who lives nearby, while the daughter was abroad and is returning to Italy. After the separation, Tania Sperindio had moved elsewhere, while Bonifazi continued to live in the house on via Agello. Despite the end of the relationship, the two would have continued to see each other.

The son, at home, did not notice anything
Inside the house was the 27-year-old son who did not notice what happened. At the end of the inspections carried out by personnel of the Rimini Investigative Unit, the property as well as objects of investigative interest, including a hammer and the clothes of the alleged murderer, were seized. The 71-year-old, at the conclusion of the interrogation conducted during the night by the Public Prosecutor of the Rimini Public Prosecutor’s Office during which he exercised his right to remain silent, was transferred to the local prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
