Reggio Emilia, July 17, 2026 – Three hundred and fifty sunbeds disappeared overnight, in June two years ago from the Onde Chiare club on via Fenulli in the city and stolen by unknown hands. A year later they ‘magically’ reappeared, complete with the Onde Chiare logo still clearly visible, at a beach resort on the sand of Capo Rodoni, a rocky promontory on the Adriatic Sea north of Durres, Albania.
The tourist on vacation raised the alarm
A lady from Reggio Emilia who was there on vacation noticed and sent the pool managers an email with attached photos to warn them of the unusual discovery, having read the news of the theft in the local press at the time.
The pool managers filed a lawsuit to reclaim the sunbeds
Alberto Costoli and Enrico Cavazzoni, managers of the facility which has been synonymous with wellness and activity in our province for years, did not waste time, they appointed lawyer Gianluca Dallari to start the procedure to recover the equipment worth over 45 thousand euros. Costoli explains: “We also thought about going there to get them back in person, but then we decided to follow the legal route. Our lawyer found a lawyer in Albania as well, who initiated the lawsuit. In theory, our sunbeds should have been seized and locked up by the Albanian authorities. Instead, another of our customers, who happened to be in Durres these days, sent us a new video, the one we then published on our Instagram profile, where it is perfectly clear that they are still on the beach, in use by the customers of the Albanian bath. We are very angry.”

“It’s not a good business card for tourists and national reputation”
Hence the decision to bring the matter to public attention: “We tagged the local newspapers, sent an email to the editorial staff of Le Iene, the Italia Uno program, known for its thorny investigations. I also wanted to tag Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Albania, because he often makes statements about the development of their tourism. Well, stealing sunbeds in Italy, is certainly not a good business card for tourists and for their national reputation. We have been working for years with several Albanian suppliers and have never had problems. We hope the Albanian prime minister takes an interest in our case, because by now we don’t know what path to follow anymore.”
The social post went viral
The social post, meanwhile, went viral, reaching dozens of shares and several hundred “likes.” “The hope is that some noise and media pressure will help stir things up – concludes Costoli – think about the discomfort this theft caused us two years ago at the start of the summer season.”
