Bologna, September 8, 2026 – It won’t be as fast as Iron Man, but at least the colors are the same. The first tram under the Two Towers has arrived in Bologna, escorted by a small ‘procession’ along the Via Emilia to the Borgo Panigale depot.

The official presentation
The official presentation will have to wait until tomorrow, when it will be fully assembled; meanwhile, the first carriages, 35 meters long and almost two and a half meters wide, red and gold like the Marvel hero’s suit, are here. The train set departed by sea from Spain to arrive at the port of Savona. From there, after a stop in Genoa, it reached the outskirts of the Emilia capital, transported by some trucks specialized in exceptional transports. In total, the vehicles – built by the Spanish company Caf (Construcciones y auxiliar de ferrocarriles) – will be sixteen.
When it will enter service
At the end of September, therefore, the tram will travel the first kilometer that separates the depot itself from the Ducati stop. Then from there it will cover more and more kilometers and, after having traveled about a thousand, as Mayor Matteo Lepore recalled in an interview with Carlino, it will enter service at the beginning of 2027. In the first months, it will be free, to get the people of Bologna used to the novelty.
