Ferrara, August 10, 2026 – A “severe and linguistically harsh criticism,” limited to the four officers involved in the Aldrovandi case and not directed at the State Police “as a Body” or the Sap union. This is the core around which the reasons for the verdict revolve, with Judge Sara Vaglio of the Velletri court having acquitted Gabriele Rubini (known as Chef Rubio) of the defamation charge related to a comment on Twitter in which he called the police officers convicted for the death of eighteen-year-old Federico Aldrovandi “4 pigs”, which occurred in September 2005. In the trial, the secretary of Sap, Stefano Paoloni, had joined as a civil party, considering those words damaging to the dignity of the State Police.

While specifying that that expression does not represent a “model of correctness”, the judge frames it as a “criticism” not aimed at “denigrating the State Police,” but at “emphasizing how the discredit is linked to the conduct of the four officers” involved. All within the context of a matter of “evident public interest”, on which the debate is “still alive.” The expression contested against Rubio (defended by lawyers Fabio Anselmo and Bernardo Gentile), “although marked by particularly harsh tones,” would therefore not translate into a “gratuitous attack on the reputation of the State Police nor of Sap and its members.”
