This is how Gianluca Gabriele died, a 55-year-old motorcyclist born in Ancona and residing in Passo Varano, last night around 8 pm, in a dramatic accident on the North-South equipped axis, heading towards Baraccola, just before the Brecce Bianche tunnel.
He slipped on the asphalt
The man died instantly. The scene that opened before the eyes of passing motorists was heartbreaking: the motorcycle reduced to a heap of metal, the man lying on the ground and the Red Cross rescuers bent over him in a desperate attempt to save him from death. The dynamics, still under investigation, are terrible in their simplicity. The rider, for reasons to be determined, lost control of the vehicle slipping on the asphalt.
In the fall, he hit a prohibition sign, bent and twisted, and the violent impact threw him, along with the motorcycle, against the wall bordering the roadway. A shock of unheard-of violence: some parts of the motorcycle were thrown onto the other lane.
Rescue teams arrived on the scene within minutes, with the Red Cross ambulance and the Crass emergency doctor.
All attempts to save him from death were in vain
The medical staff fought for a long time, performing cardiac massage for quite some time in the hope of restarting the man’s heart.
But every effort proved futile. Also at the accident site were local police officers, engaged in investigations, who will also have to clarify the role of that bent sign in the fatal outcome of the fall. To allow rescue and investigations, the road was closed just before the exit leading to the university, causing inevitable traffic disruptions in the evening hours. On the equipped axis, there remains shock over a life cut short in a few terrible moments, on a road traveled every day by thousands of people.
