Ravenna, August 21, 2026 – Cloudbursts, sudden temperature drop and strong gusts of wind that caused trees to fall, branches to break, billboards to be lifted, and in one case, recorded in Lido Adriano, caused a glass balustrade to collapse.
These are the effects of the rapid passage of a storm system that between late morning and early afternoon today (Friday) affected most of the province of Ravenna. Several calls were received by the fire brigade operations center. As in the aforementioned case of Lido Adriano, where the fury of the wind caused the complete collapse of the glass balustrade of the Residence Calipso, located at number 345 Viale Petrarca.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the collapse nevertheless caused damage to some vehicles parked in the underlying private condominium area, whose access is exclusively for residents.
Given the absence of the protective terrace railing, which provides access to multiple condominium apartments, for a length of about 150/170 meters, the fire brigade requested the installation of barriers, in order to secure the area, considering the real danger of falling into the void for the building occupants.

Critical issues were reported in San Pietro in Vincoli due to a tree falling on a light pole, as well as in Lido di Savio due to a pine uprooted by the wind.
Here is the list of roads that have been closed to traffic: via Ravegnana, at the height of via Nuova; via Cella, intersection with via Fornella Inferiore; via del Sale closed only to heavy traffic; via Massa, at the height of number 24 Massa Castello
The bad weather made it necessary to cancel some events. For example, today’s evening of the Sagra del Buongustaio currently taking place in Reda.

“The decision – informs the Organizing Committee – was necessary due to the violent cloudburst that hit the Reda area in recent hours, making the event spaces unusable and compromising the safety conditions necessary for the event to take place. Updates and official communications regarding the resumption of the festival and the scheduling of upcoming evenings will be released in the coming hours through our official social channels. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank everyone for their understanding.” Due to the bad weather emergency, today’s evening (Friday) was also cancelled, scheduled in Marina di Ravenna, of ‘Studio Delta Live on the Beach’. The second and final evening, scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday), will take place as planned. Meanwhile, Ravenna FC has announced the cancellation of the open-door training session planned for this evening, due to the sudden bad weather and the sharp drop in temperatures recorded in Romagna.
