Forlì, August 21, 2026 – Gusts up to 110 kilometers per hour hit the city, causing severe damage and numerous tree collapses. Trees fell onto the streets, causing traffic disruptions. In particular, the fall of a tree involved 2 cars with 2 people inside, who did not suffer any physical injuries. Firefighters are also working to clear blocked access to some homes, including a building located on Viale Gorizia.
House with disabled residents left without power
The firefighters are also assisting Enel technicians in a house left without electricity, where two disabled people dependent on life-saving machines live, ensuring continuous power supply through the use of field electric generators.

Intervention at the airport
Another intervention is underway at the city airport for the securing of 3 aircraft moved by strong wind gusts, one during landing, with no injuries reported. Personnel are also engaged in removing dangerous construction elements and inspecting roofs damaged by wind gusts on various structures in the area.
The mayor: “All technical staff at work”
“A violent storm has just hit our city. Numerous city parks, streets, school gardens, and green areas, both downtown and in the neighborhoods, have been hit by very strong wind gusts that caused branches and entire trees to fall – explains Mayor Gian Luca Zattini -. The municipal machinery immediately got into action. The units for greenery, infrastructure, and public buildings are coordinating interventions and mapping the most critical areas. All technical staff, gardeners, and contractors are working and moving around the city.” “Seven Local Police patrols are engaged in restoring traffic flow and providing support to the Firefighters and all Law Enforcement – continues the mayor -. We have also already alerted and mobilized Dedalo technicians, those of Formula Servizi, and requested Alea’s intervention to collect fallen trunks and branches from the streets with manual operators and sweepers, as well as trash and bins that were swept away by the storm.”

“Some roads closed to traffic, some parks closed”
The list of roads closed to traffic is long, pending the removal of branches and trees. “At the moment – the mayor explains again via social media –, the following are closed to traffic: Via Cerchia, Via Roma, Via Bertini, Via Campo di Marte, Via Corelli, Via Cucchiari, Viale Spazzoli, Viale Due Giugno, and Viale dell’Appennino. For safety reasons, we are also closing some public parks and gardens, including the Resistenza park, and others where trees and branches of various sizes have fallen. At this time, we ask everyone for maximum caution when traveling and full cooperation in managing emergencies by the Firefighters and competent authorities.”
Events canceled at the Rocca di Ravaldino
Due to the violent storm, the shows scheduled for tonight and Sunday evening at the Rocca di Ravaldino, as part of the summer festival Arena Rocca Estate 2026, have been canceled. The traditional opening of the Rocca di Ravaldino over the weekend is also canceled. Likewise, the Giardini della Rocca will remain closed for safety restoration interventions and removal of uprooted trunks and branches.
