Rimini, August 24, 2026 – They were called Maurizio De Panfilis, 76 years old, and Antonella Doneda, 66 years old, the two victims of the terrible accident that occurred Sunday morning on the A14, between the Riccione and Rimini Sud toll booths, heading towards Bologna. Both lived in Lombardy and were returning home after the holidays: the end of their vacation turned into a tragedy in a very short time and with lethal violence.

The motorcycle accident
The two were traveling on a Bmw R1200. According to the reconstruction by the Highway Police, around 11:25 the motorcycle was traveling in the third lane of the highway when it violently hit the rear of a Hyundai Tucson slowed down by heavy traffic. The highway was heavily trafficked also due to the return traffic. After the impact, the motorcycle fell to the ground.
He died instantly, she in hospital
The impact was fatal for the 76-year-old from Bergamo and his partner, a pharmacist from Pedrengo. De Panfilis was found in the third lane and died at the scene: rescuers unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate him. Doneda, thrown onto the asphalt, was rescued and transported to the Bufalini hospital in Cesena, where she died at 13:10 due to the very serious injuries sustained. The two occupants of the Hyundai were unharmed.

The motorcycle was traveling at 180 km/h: violent impact
Investigations revealed that the Bmw had refueled at the Foglia Est service area at 10:59; surveillance footage allowed officers to confirm that De Panfilis was driving the vehicle. From the elements gathered after the crash, it emerged that the motorcycle was traveling at about 180 kilometers per hour. A fact that helps explain the violence of the impact and will be evaluated in the overall investigation of the dynamics.
