Half an hour after opening, the waiting lists (with a limit of 100 spots) were already closed and, by noon, thirty people had completed the tattoo. The prize consists of a coupon valid every ten days at KFC restaurants in Modena, Reggio Emilia, and Parma.
Kfc managers: “Waiting lists filled in 30 minutes”
“This morning – explains Saverio Franzoni, Kfc operation manager – the waiting list was filled within the first 30 minutes. The process is simple: you book, get tattooed, and after about ten days, a recurring coupon that gives a menu every ten days is automatically activated on the app. Compared to the first edition, which was already very successful, this year the media impact has been extraordinary.”

The initiative has been hugely successful, but in recent days there have been doubts and controversies on social media regarding the legitimacy of the operation. The chain’s officials intervened to reassure the public, confirming that the event took place in full compliance with the rules and with all necessary permits.
“The event is successful and we are 100% in line with regulations – explains Matteo Tempesta, event organizer for Kfc –. It is positive that it has been talked about, but we have had no problems: the event is ongoing and growing compared to last year, so we are continuing to carry out all the activities we had planned.”

The organizers: “Everything in order”
The organizers emphasize that last year everything was also carried out according to the rules: “Last year we were also compliant: all authorizations were submitted directly by the Fair. This year, with the new regulations, we had to submit them ourselves and so we did. This morning we completed the waiting lists within the first few minutes of the Fair opening: we have 100 people on the list and hope to get through all of them today. Tomorrow we will reopen bookings for another 100 spots.”

The first to get tattooed: “It will be worth it”
Among the first to get the well-known fast food logo tattoo is Flavio Dario Bondioli: “I am a big fan of tattoos – he says –. I will definitely take advantage of the opportunity and gladly enjoy some free fried chicken, even if maybe not every ten days. It’s a bit painful, like any tattoo, but it will definitely be worth it.”
Federconsumatori’s criticism
“Federconsumatori Modena asks the Municipality of Modena and the Local Health Authority not to allow this unfair exchange between fried chicken and advertising tattoos. And to Modena Nerd, for its part, we ask to remove Kfc’s presence from its stands, defending the good name that such a well-regarded fair has earned over the years – Federconsumatori did not like the fast food chain Kfc’s proposal at Modena Nerd at all –. In the last edition – emphasizes the consumer association – the stand reportedly ‘branded’ about fifty people, a very serious matter, even in the absence of authorization and the necessary hygienic-sanitary protocols defined by strict regulations.”
