Rimini, July 17, 2026 – Moments of terror this late afternoon at Borgo San Giuliano, where a car out of control caused panic along via San Giuliano, hitting several vehicles, striking pedestrians, and ending its run against the window of a shop. The provisional toll is five injured, none of whom, according to initial information, are in life-threatening condition.

According to an initial reconstruction, a fifty-year-old driving a Toyota Aygo suddenly lost control of the vehicle. The car rear-ended at least three vehicles – a Renault Scenic with Dutch plates, a Peugeot 3008, and a Smart – also involving some pedestrians, before crashing into the window of a hairdresser. Emergency services were immediately alerted. On site were the firefighters, four ambulances, the emergency doctor, and numerous patrols of the local police, who secured the area, provided first aid to the injured, and began investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the event.
Among the injured is also the driver of the Toyota, transported to the hospital along with the other people involved. Their conditions, according to initial assessments, do not raise particular concern. Investigations are underway to clarify the causes of the accident. Local police officers are collecting testimonies from witnesses and verifying what caused the loss of control of the car. Any assessments of the driver’s psychophysical state will be carried out as part of the investigations.
