Bomb alarm on Viale Vicini, the second in three days in Bologna

Bologna, July 30, 2026 – Fear in Bologna for the second bomb alert in three days. This time in Viale Vicini due to an abandoned suitcase in front of the Mameli barracks, a few steps from Porta San Felice. Police, the bomb disposal squad, firefighters, and the 118 emergency service (present as a precaution) intervened on the spot. Around 10:30 PM, the affected section of Via Saffi, from Via Sabotino to Porta San Felice, was closed to traffic. Traffic was restored about an hour later, after the bomb disposal squad detonated the suitcase. However, nothing was found inside.

Only three days ago, Monday, July 27, the bomb alert was triggered after the discovery of an abandoned suitcase along Via Irnerio. In that case too, the alert was lifted after a few hours thanks to the intervention of the carabinieri and the bomb disposal squad.
