The Parma Prosecutor’s Office has appealed against the acquittal of the girl for the murder of the first child, the newborn born and died on May 12, 2023, then buried in the garden of the house.
The young woman from Traversetolo, in April, was sentenced to 24 years and three months for having murdered, with premeditation, the second child, born on August 7, 2024, while, for the first instance judges, there is no evidence that the first was born alive.
The prosecutors also insist on requesting the recognition of corpse suppression for both: the sentence had reclassified the second episode as the less serious concealment.
The sentence
The sentence of the Court of Assizes of Parma arrived on April 24, 2026. The Court downgraded the suppression of the corpse of the second child to the less serious crime of concealment of a corpse, but recognized the aggravating circumstance of premeditation (due to web searches) and that of descent. Petrolini had been declared capable of understanding and willing at the beginning of the trial.
The formula the judges chose to acquit her of the murder of the firstborn was because the fact does not exist. The other baby died of blood loss after the umbilical cord was cut.
