Fano, August 4, 2026 – Before the ramming of the carabinieri car in Senigallia, the chase, the foot escape, and the tragic ending in the hospital, there was Fano for Oleksandr Muravskyi, the 35-year-old Ukrainian who died Sunday morning following a dramatic sequence of events that started in Romagna and ended tragically in Senigallia: a car chase, then a scuffle with the carabinieri, and finally death from cardiac arrest in the ambulance before arriving at the hospital.

The man was on vacation with his family in Romagna.
The BMW sped wildly through Fano, with reckless overtaking, crossing into the opposite lane, and maneuvers that made people fear the worst. The driver shouted incomprehensible phrases, gestured, out of control. For several minutes, those who crossed his path felt that he could hit someone at any moment. The first call for help to the authorities was made shortly after 7 from the Lido traffic light. A group of cyclists was stopped at the red light when the car cut across the road and stopped in front of the bicycles.

“We were left speechless – recount Giampiero and Stefano, who were in the group –. We thought that man needed help. He got out of the car and started shouting something in a language no one could understand. It seemed like a mix of English and an Eastern language, but the words were incomprehensible.” The impression lasted only a few moments. The man suddenly got back in and drove off. “He had us in front of him. He only steered at the last moment, hitting the front wheel of Cristina’s bike. Fortunately, she didn’t fall and no one was hurt, but if she hadn’t turned the handlebars he would have hit us full on.”
Stefano called 112: “I couldn’t just let it go”
It was Stefano who immediately called 112. “His behavior was too strange to ignore. Only later did the police station call me back asking me to go to the carabinieri to formalize the complaint. I realized that in the meantime he had already caused more trouble.” And indeed the chase continued south. Catia found him ahead between the Ipercoop roundabout and the Uliassi bar roundabout. “He was driving at high speed in the opposite lane. Cars and scooters were exiting the parking lots in front of the bar: he could have caused a massacre. Shortly after, I heard the sirens of the carabinieri and ambulance and thought they had finally stopped him.”

It wasn’t over yet. At Ponte Sasso, the BMW entered the parking lot of a bar at full speed, where about twenty people were having breakfast. “He arrived with a violent brake – recounts Antonietta -. We all got up from our chairs out of fear. Then he spun the car towards the washing area, did a pirouette with the car, and took off again on the highway.” A few minutes later, along the same route, the first patrols headed towards Senigallia passed by, where the incident ended with the ramming of a carabinieri car, the chase, the arrest, and the death of the 35-year-old in the hospital. The Ancona Prosecutor’s Office is investigating and has ordered an autopsy to clarify the cause of death.
