Comacchio, August 8, 2026 – The uniform, pistol in the holster, the four-wheel-drive jeep with a spotlight sweeping the beach. Davide Tuzzi, investigator, on the front line for 40 years to provide security, is part of one of the security agencies that have long been carrying out services on the beaches. He is the owner of the investigation and security institute Securiteam and also works for Top secret vigilanza; with them, he takes the wheel at night, the beam of light between umbrellas and sunbeds, the radio to raise the alarm.

Hooligans unleashed on the beaches, bathrooms devastated, umbrellas broken. What is happening on our shores?
“It is certainly a complex phenomenon but, from my experience, I can say that there should have been more attention. Already last year it was necessary to realize that the beaches, as we remember them, were changing. That beach had become the ideal place for gangs of very young people who, drunk, maybe with some substance in their blood, let themselves go to serious acts. It is a crime to damage, break umbrellas, it is a crime to steal bottles of alcohol, break locks and enter private property. Moreover, their behavior, I repeat serious, is a slap in the face to the work of entrepreneurs, people who roll up their sleeves every morning to welcome tourists, to make our sea beautiful.”

You operate at the sea, what are your duties?
“On one hand, with my agency, we carry out investigative activities maybe for parents who are a bit worried about their child, who want reassurance. Kids who go to the sea, very young people who rent an apartment together, maybe five or six. They are afraid of the groups they hang out with, that they start drinking, that they might get close to drugs. And we, in plain clothes, do our investigations”
In plain clothes, the best way to operate
“Certainly, also for the maranza phenomenon. Our personnel in plain clothes in front of the bathrooms, out at night, can carry out prevention activities, see how these kids, these packs move. And raise the alarm”
Then there is that mission in uniform
“Yes, on behalf of Top secret vigilanza. We patrol, we are ready to intervene”
A colleague of yours was stoned
“He was in great danger, he has my solidarity. He was a night guard, unarmed.”
You instead have a pistol
“Yes, an extra guarantee. But ideally in this delicate period it would be best to always do security service in pairs. You face even a dozen kids, often drunk.”
