Multi-car pileup today on the A14 in Faenza: one woman dead and 10 injured (including a child)

Faenza (Ravenna), August 8, 2026 – A tragic road accident occurred today late in the morning along the A14 motorway, southbound, in the Faenza section that crosses a viaduct. The major pile-up involved 5 cars, causing the death of a 68-year-old woman and injuring ten other people (including a child).

The victim is a woman traveling with a man

The victim, originally from Milan and deceased on the spot, was traveling with a man of the same age. Currently without identification documents, the two were identified as residents of the Lombard capital. The man sustained very serious injuries and was transferred in critical condition to the Trauma Center of the ‘Maurizio Bufalini’ hospital in Cesena.

A child also injured in the collision

In the same hospital, a second injured person in similarly critical condition was admitted, while the others involved — with medium and minor severity codes — including a child, received first aid on site before being transported to local facilities.

The emergency response was substantial, with several ambulances, the emergency medical vehicle, fire brigade teams, and the air ambulance. Due to the viaduct’s structure, the medical crew of the air ambulance had to descend onto the roadway using a winch, although the subsequent transfer of the more seriously injured to the Cesena hospital was done entirely by land in ambulances. The investigations to determine the causes of the pile-up and traffic management have been entrusted to the Highway Police.
