Pesaro, September 3, 2026 – “I am the father of the seventeen-year-old who was arrested. I would like to be able to confirm at first that my son is absolutely guilty of the actions committed and must pay his penalty, but I am dismayed by the fact that for more than 2 years we have been turning to the social workers of the Municipality of Pesaro and the court of Ancona, pleading for our son to be placed in a protected facility and the answer has always been the same, until he commits a crime he cannot be placed in the system. Are we joking?”.

Thus begins a long letter addressed to Carlino, signed and sent by email at 6:47 PM yesterday afternoon to the editorial office by the father of the boy from Pesaro who on Sunday morning was driving the stolen Lancia Y the night before on via Tombesi. The minor had run from the police stop and had crossed half of Pesaro at full speed, chased first by the Police patrols and then also by the carabinieri. There were two other young people in the car, including a 20-year-old who was arrested. The chase ended only with a crash against a low wall and two parked cars.
My son must pay, but do not shift the blame onto us: for months we hid the medication in the food
“Left alone, I hid my son’s medicine in his meals for months”
Yesterday the juvenile court of Bologna validated the restrictive measure against him for all three charges (theft, trespassing, and fleeing a stop). He was ordered to be placed in a community. After the arrest, the tension reportedly continued even at the police headquarters. “Moreover, crimes have been committed – the letter continues –, but it always depends on the severity, so there is little or nothing to prevent it. The boy is a minor, the family has been available from the start and the facilities do not exist, perfect!! More than a year passed before the first procedure was started and my son has severe ADHD, recognized and with oppositional and aggressive behaviors, think only outside or also at home? How is it possible that so much time passes before managing a situation like this? We have medical reports and continuous requests for help that have fallen on deaf ears. I also wrote to the mayor of Pesaro who praises the coordinated activities between the police and surveillance systems, but does not bother to say the rest and this is disrespectful to families who have done everything possible to help their child. I hid the medicine for months in my son’s meals because it was the only way to get him to take them until, of course, he noticed.”

He is a boy with severe ADHD, for two years we have been begging in vain for a facility to take him in
A father’s despair: “I called the authorities myself to have him arrested”
“Even when he resisted – continues the letter – there was no obligation from anyone and we parents alone said that we could not manage the situation. My son even managed to disappear from the walls of the Pesaro police headquarters already under arrest, fortunately he came home and I called the authorities myself to have him arrested and to hope that finally something could be done for him. I also specify that despite our request for transfer to a facility, even on the morning of the arrest, during a confrontation with the authorities, house arrest was instead validated and if it were not for the events just explained, probably they would still be hesitating over a situation that was already at the limit.
It is easy to point the finger at families because it is quicker to solve the problem, but I, as a father, who feels mortified by what happened that did not only affect our family, want to make my voice heard and I would like the evaluations to be more thorough. Obviously, the most important thing in all this is that no one was involved and no one was hurt, I would not have been able to bear it. Finally, all the images circulated in newspapers, social media, and news broadcasts show a minor and we all know that this should not even be done, not to mention the poisonous comments from those who do not even have children and think that ADHD is a new drink”
