The announcement came directly from social media, with Jovanotti playing, as always, on irony to introduce his guest: “My band and I will do a live around 5 PM and one at 7:30 PM in which we will launch an emerging artist named Gianni”. A playful way to introduce one of the best-known names in Italian music, who took the stage in the middle of the evening. The eclipse gag was very funny, as Morandi entered the scene right at the beginning of the phenomenon with the Sun at the center, with Jovanotti joking with the 81-year-old saying he was “blocking” his view.

Too much asbestos, Barletta stop canceled
The evening in Montesilvano came at a particular moment for Jovanotti’s tour, also marked by the cancellation of the stop that was supposed to take place in Barletta. The concert scheduled for next Monday in the area of the former Paper Mill was canceled after the discovery of an asbestos fragment on the site and the checks carried out by Arpa Puglia and Asl.
The mayor’s words: “We tried until the last moment”
A decision that caused bitterness in the city. The mayor of Barletta Cosimo Cannito entrusted his comment to social media: “There are those who fought until the last moment for this great event to happen. And there are those who today, unfortunately, celebrate a defeat that is not of a political party, but of the entire city”. Then he added: “We know which side we were on – on the side of Barletta, the citizens, the workers, the businesses, the hospitality structures and the thousands of people who had chosen our city”. The problem emerged after a series of checks on the area of the former paper mill, a disused industrial site of about 50 hectares. The organizing company had identified the area already in recent months, working on the preparation of the event. After an initial negative result of the analyses, further checks revealed the presence of asbestos and a subsequent coring led to the discovery of a fragment between six and eight centimeters long. Hence the decision to declare the site unsuitable. The 33,000 tickets already sold can be refunded or used for a possible new concert in Bari, where the organizers are now searching for a new location for the September 19 date.
