Bologna, September 11, 2026 – They spare nothing. Lawyer Fabio Anselmo and Avs senator Ilaria Cucchi, from the stage set up in the Làbas spaces for a public assembly on the case of Abderrahim Fakir, launched direct attacks on the government as well as the police headquarters, defined by the senator as: “a party headquarters, they were all there.”

“Fakir had to die and it is right that he died: this is the signal of State propaganda”
Unambiguous statements starting from a provocative axiom by the same lawyer of the family of the 42-year-old who died in Pilastro, at the height of police restraint. “Fakir had to die and it is right that he died: this is the signal of State propaganda,” Anselmo emphasized at the beginning of his speech. Highlighting the “dangerousness of the maneuver” carried out by the officers who immobilized Fakir in Pilastro, Anselmo added that what was produced “is the violent reaction, from a verbal and behavioral point of view, compared to the embarrassing images of that video showing the last moments of Fakir’s life, where he cannot breathe and unfortunately that action does not stop.”
Lawyer Anselmo against everyone
He speaks of “unconditional defense of the police forces” Anselmo, asking the audience: “Even if Fakir was at that moment altered by the use of drugs, would that have been the exclusive cause of death? No! Because if he had not been in that prolonged condition of crushing and that compression, Abderrahim would not have died on his own,” the lawyer argues. The lawyer of the family of the 42-year-old is a torrent, who, citing the ongoing investigation, alludes: “If drugs killed Fakir, let’s find who sold them to him and investigate him, then. Let’s ignore the footage of the death. Because the environmental conditions we are in speak of 120 days of investigation which are not enough for such a complex case.”
The finger pointed at the government
Then, the political brawl and the finger pointed at the government. “The continuous attacks are a mafia signal that the State gives to families: you will not make it, you will have to spend everything you have and don’t have to get justice and even if you make it we will continue to contest the sentences, which are only good for us when they do not deliver justice,” Anselmo said referring to the cases of Federico Aldrovandi, Stefano Cucchi and Abderrahim Fakir, for which Ilaria Cucchi herself stated to see an analogy “in the modus operandi of looking for the victim’s responsibility for his own death. But we know without a doubt that Abderrahim died suffocated”, the Avs senator emphasized again. From her also came a bombardment towards the Bologna police headquarters and the “political parade that took place there after Fakir’s death”. “The police headquarters had become a party headquarters, they were all there – added Cucchi –. I did not see any government representative go to the door of Abderrahim’s sister and bring her their solidarity.”
