Bologna, September 11, 2026 – A video of a few seconds that captures moments of great tension, but fortunately ended well. It is the one shared by the Facebook page FL360aero, which published the footage shot by a passenger on board a plane operating on the Bologna-Dublin route.
The strong gust of wind at the moment of landing
As explained in the post by Vola Bologna, which republished the video, yesterday the plane was forced to perform a go-around and repeat the landing procedure a second time. Precisely at the moment of touching down on the runway, in fact, the aircraft was hit by a sudden gust of crosswind, with metar data reporting gusts up to 26 knots.
How the ‘go around’ works
The go-around – in Italian riattaccata or missed approach – is a maneuver in which the plane aborts the landing at the last moment and climbs back up. It is, it is explained, a normal procedure when for safety reasons it is better to repeat the landing.

The footage shows the wingtip almost touching the asphalt of the Dublin runway, barely missing impact with the surface by a few millimeters: an emblematic passage, which clearly conveys the sudden and insidious force of the gust of wind in those moments.
Comments: “A round of applause for the pilots is needed”
The video has thus gathered numerous comments: “I was also a passenger on that flight,” recounts a user on the Vola Bologna page. “Here at landing a round of applause for the pilots and for the danger avoided is needed,” adds another citizen.
