Reggio Emilia, July 26, 2026 – A letter for Alessandro Magnani’s mother, the 41-year-old from Canolo di Correggio (Reggio Emilia), who died on July 14 following an accident involving the Carpi singer Paolo Belli who was riding his bicycle.

It was Belli himself who wrote it, and on Friday, the day of the 41-year-old’s funeral, he asked his lawyer, Roberto Ghini, to deliver the letter to Mrs. Lina’s lawyers, to express his closeness, participation, solidarity, and his immense sorrow and pain for the death of Alessandro.
To have it delivered to Magnini’s mother, he chose a ‘symbolic’ day, that of the final farewell, of the definitive separation, when several hundred people attended Magnani’s funeral in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Reggio.
Singer’s concerts halted
And on the same day, the suspension of the singer’s performances was officially announced: ‘Currently, Paolo Belli’s artistic activities are suspended until further notice,’ read the message that appeared at 7:30 PM on Friday on the ‘PB produzioni’ website and the artist’s own. A predictable choice, also knowing the Carpi artist’s sensitivity and moral standing, but not yet officialized.
In recent days, rumors on the matter had become more persistent after the poster announcing his Big Band’s Summer Tour 2026, with the list of dates that were supposed to accompany the artist until mid-September among squares, village festivals, and private events, disappeared from Paolo Belli’s Instagram profile.
Now, the official confirmation.
Reconstruction of the tragic accident
The tragedy occurred on July 13: around noon, the singer was cycling on a country road in Cognento di Campagnola, while Magnani, an employee of a service company, was leaving a house on foot and heading towards his car.

At that moment, the impact with the bicycle ridden by Paolo Belli. The man’s condition appeared critical from the first aid: urgently transported to Parma hospital, he died the next day.
The singer also needed medical attention, mainly for the shock he suffered, and was hospitalized in Guastalla; those who assisted him say that, in the commotion, he kept asking for information about the person involved in the collision.
Meanwhile, Magnani’s autopsy has been completed: the primary objective is to clarify whether the death was caused by a fatal head trauma resulting from the fall, or if the 41-year-old suffered a sudden illness even before the impact.
According to the forensic doctor assisting the victim’s family, the initial results of the autopsy would not show signs of previous pathologies or problems. But these would only be initial findings. Belli’s name has been entered in the register of suspects, as is customary in such cases, for the hypothesis of vehicular homicide, in order to carry out the necessary investigations to reconstruct what happened.
