Bologna, July 25, 2026 – The investigation file on the street clashes that set the center of Bologna ablaze on Monday evening is taking shape. After an initial phase in which the State police focused on identifying as many troublemakers as possible among those immortalized in hundreds and hundreds of images of the guerrilla warfare, yesterday twelve people were formally investigated for misrepresentation, throwing objects, resistance, and violence against a public official. A corollary of accusations for which, in all likelihood, more people than the current dozen indicted will have to answer, with the work of identifying as many troublemakers as possible continuing in the police headquarters.

Meanwhile, the City Council also officially confirms the damage count anticipated in recent days by Carlino, with a staggering total of over 200,000 euros. The still partial count of the damages was illustrated yesterday by the Councillor for Security Matilde Madrid, called to answer 14 different questions from the councillors. Madrid informed the city council that the most significant part of the damages concerns three municipal cars set on fire, approximately 13,700 euros in damages for several dozens of Hera bins and waste containers destroyed, almost 30,000 euros for vandalized Ridemove bicycles, and 150,000 euros in damages to construction vehicles in via Rizzoli.
“As always – Councillor Matilde Madrid announced again – we will file a complaint, requesting compensation for the damages suffered at the expense of those responsible. We hope that they will be identified as soon as possible, and if there is a trial – Madrid always informs – we will obviously evaluate becoming a civil party.” A regular complaint for the damages suffered has already been filed by the company owning the vandalized, damaged, or burned vehicles.

The Unipol shop window was also damaged, while a call was launched by trade associations to identify further consequences of the clashes for economic activities in the area. Madrid finally reiterated the administration’s solidarity with the 64 police officers injured (with prognoses between 3 and 35 days) in the clashes. “And to all those who suffered the consequences of those events.” A “new wound to the community already affected by the death of Fakir. The responsibility for the clashes – Madrid emphasizes – belongs to those who consciously chose violence, and now rigorous investigations and clear consequences are needed in the competent forums.”

A galaxy in which, however, not only violent exponents of collectives or social centers are found, but also unsuspected individuals: very young people, boys and girls, often students or those with no criminal record from the most disparate occupations. To them are added the ‘experts of disorder’: faces known to mobile units throughout Italy, specialized in traveling across the country depending on where the wind of conflict blows. People not residing in the city and province, therefore, but called to the shadow of the Two Towers specifically to engage in violent contact and throw objects against the blue shields. Finally, second-generation Italians, protagonists, also in Bologna, of numerous object throws against the police until late at night, when the guerrilla warfare then subsided after several hours of high-tension clashes.
