Pianoro (Bologna), August 28, 2026 – More blood on the roads of the province of Bologna. In the tragic collision between a car and a motorcycle, in Pianoro, a 63-year-old man originally from Ferrara died late yesterday afternoon. The accident occurred on via Nazionale, in the Pianoro area, at the height of the Ponte della Boaria which connects via Nazionale to Fondovalle Savena.

According to a first reconstruction, the 63-year-old, riding his maxi scooter, a Yamaha T Max 500, was traveling on via Nazionale from Bologna towards Pianoro town.
The dynamics of the crash at the intersection
In the opposite direction was a Fiat Panda which, at the height of the Ponte della Boaria, turned to head towards Fondovalle Savena. It is unclear whether the car driver turned suddenly to take the side road or did not see the oncoming motorcycle: what is certain is that the impact was devastating and the 63-year-old was thrown off the motorcycle seat and then fell violently to the ground.
On the spot, alerted by other drivers in the area, the 118 emergency medical team arrived immediately with an ambulance, but given the serious condition of the 63-year-old, a helicopter rescue was also called in.
The desperate attempts to save him
The man was resuscitated on site for a long time and then transported to Maggiore hospital in a critical condition.
The injuries sustained in the impact were too severe and he died during transport to the hospital. The car driver was in shock. For the accident investigation and to ascertain the exact dynamics of the tragedy, agents of the Pianoro Local Police intervened: it is now up to them to determine the responsibilities for what happened. Assisting the Local Police agents with traffic management were the carabinieri from the local station. Traffic in that area, and at that time, which is always very congested, suffered heavy slowdowns: it was necessary to close the stretch of road to allow for rescue operations, investigations, and then clearing the roadway of vehicle debris.
