Severely beaten in the parking lot, Nicola brain dead

Ravenna, July 21, 2026 – Brain death for the 54-year-old homeless man who was beaten to death in the parking lot on Viale Tritone, in Pinarella di Cervia, on the night between Saturday and Sunday. He had been hospitalized in desperate conditions at Bufalini Hospital in Cesena. Investigations by the Carabinieri of the Cervia-Milano Marittima Company and the Ravenna Investigative Unit, coordinated by public prosecutor Angela Scorza, continue to identify the perpetrators of the beating.

The punitive expedition theory

The most credible theory remains that of a real punitive expedition. Nicola, who had been living in a camper parked in the area for some time, was reportedly reached while he was sleeping. Someone allegedly forced him out of the vehicle and then struck him with extreme ferocity, especially on the head and chest, leaving him lifeless on the asphalt. A Carabinieri patrol found him around six in the morning.

The witness and the video

There is an indirect witness and there is also a video, but the images are reportedly too grainy to allow immediate identification. Investigators are continuing to interview people who regularly frequent that area, including truck drivers and residents in campers and caravans, in the hope that useful elements will emerge.

Messages of condolence and the moment to remember the 54-year-old

Meanwhile, messages of condolence and appeals are multiplying on social media. An acquaintance of the victim announced Nicola’s death, inviting the public to rally around his father Giorgio, who also lives in conditions of severe economic hardship. For Wednesday at 6 PM, a gathering has been organized in the square in front of the Parco dei Cinque Pini: the invitation is to bring a flower in memory of the 54-year-old and show closeness to his father. The same message also launches an appeal for a lawyer to assist the family free of charge.

The family’s account

The same account states that around 11 PM, the 54-year-old reportedly had a heated argument with a group of five or six people, described as partly of Maghrebi and partly Albanian origin. According to their account, some members of the group allegedly tried to enter another caravan in the square, and one of them, shirtless, even uprooted some iron fence posts, using them as weapons. These are circumstances that, at the moment, have not been confirmed by investigators, but which could be subject to further verification as part of the inquiry.
