Steals from a parked car, but is caught by the owner: the thief bites his hand and then tries to escape

Bologna, August 15, 2026 – It was a busy Ferragosto morning today around 11 am on via Canova, in a residential area of the San Donato district, near the Croce del Biacco. There, a young North African man was seen wandering among parked cars, specifically near a particular vehicle, parked in a garden, from which the young man reportedly managed to steal a wallet containing a few dozen euros in cash, by forcing the door of the parked car.

A scene that was reportedly witnessed by the owner of the car himself, who was the first to raise the alarm by calling the State Police to the scene, but not before personally chasing the thief.

The criminal bit the 50-year-old’s hand to try to break free and escape

At this point, a first minor scuffle reportedly broke out between the two men, with the young thief managing to break free and flee. Shortly after, the owner of the just-robbed car managed to get close again to the criminal, starting a second and more violent physical confrontation between the two, which culminated with a bite from the thief to escape once again from the grip of the car owner, a 50-year-old from Bologna. The resident reportedly sustained a deep hand wound from the bite inflicted by the criminal, and subsequently the 118 ambulance arrived on the scene to provide aid to the injured man.

The man was stopped by the police

The thief, instead, after delivering the bite, reportedly managed to flee for a moment, before being caught shortly after inside a building where he had tried to hide, in the Piazza dei Colori area, by some friends of the victim who arrived on the scene to help the 50-year-old stop the person responsible for the theft. Upon the arrival of the police, the officers found the thief, who was then taken to the police station for the usual checks and evaluation of the young man’s situation, who now faces an investigation for robbery. The wallet has reportedly not yet been found.
