Bologna, August 28, 2026 – Wizz Air consolidates its position as the second airline at Bologna Airport and continues to strengthen its presence: for 2026, about 1.3 million seats are planned, with a capacity increase of over 20% compared to the previous year, reaching a market share of 11.5%.
These are the figures highlighted by the airline and the infrastructure of the Emilia airport on the occasion of the renewal of their long-standing partnership, during the visit of a delegation from Bologna Airport to the headquarters of Wizz Air in Budapest, Hungary.

8.5 million passengers transported in the last 18 years
Since starting operations at Bologna Airport in 2008, Wizz Air has transported over 8.5 million passengers to and from the city, progressively expanding its network from the capital of Emilia-Romagna.

Furthermore, in view of the 2026 winter season, Wizz Air will continue to strengthen its offer from Bologna. The Bologna-Palermo route, inaugurated on August 1 and operated up to 11 times a week, will be confirmed also for the winter season, thus contributing to further expanding connectivity between Emilia-Romagna and Sicily.
