The last cell connected to Lisippo
In recent days divers, firefighters, and the Coast Guard had searched the waters of the port and the stretch of sea in front of the Lisippo promenade. The choice was not random: according to the lawyer, that is the last area where Ruben’s phone would have connected to a cell tower.
The phone, after ringing again on Thursday around noon, would have turned off shortly after without turning back on. “In the past, Ruben could go hours without answering – clarifies Fabbri – but it had never happened that he turned off his phone and disappeared like this.”
A memorandum to the Prosecutor’s Office
The lawyer is now preparing a memorandum to be filed with the Prosecutor’s Office to request a series of investigations. “I consider it essential to verify the phone records and bank accounts – she states –. Knowing whether he withdrew money or made purchases can help understand whether this is a voluntary disappearance or not.” Fabbri will also request to check the cameras along possible routes taken by the fifty-nine-year-old and to identify some people Ruben was seen with on the morning of his disappearance. They could be simple acquaintances or people met by chance, but their identity has not yet been confirmed.
The mystery of the computer
Meanwhile, Ruben’s laptop remains untraceable. This has been reported by his partner, friends, and family, but is treated with caution because a move was underway from one apartment to the one above. “The computer has been searched for but so far has not been found – confirms Fabbri –. It could be in a box or moved during the relocation. Before attributing any meaning to its absence, checks are needed.” The scooter, the only means of transport available to Martin, remained near the house. “No farewell message”
The lawyer also downplays the reconstruction according to which Ruben would have sent his partner an alarming message. It was a normal conversation ended with the intention to talk again the next day. The alarm was raised only when the phone stopped being reachable.
In the house no farewell notes or other elements linked to a voluntary act were found. Ruben was not taking life-saving medication and, although he was unhappy about the lack of stable employment, he had never shown depression that would raise fears of an extreme act. In the past, he worked in marketing and communication; recently he did occasional jobs and attended courses on artificial intelligence. He is described as a sociable, talkative person, able to stop and talk with people of all ages and without particular financial problems.
The bond with Luna
What makes the disappearance incomprehensible is especially the little dog Luna, found alone at home with lights and air conditioning on. “Ruben was very attached to her – emphasizes the lawyer –. If he had wanted to change his life or leave, he could have said so. What cannot be explained is why he left Luna.” The apartment door was closed, but not locked. The dog was then entrusted to the partner, who arrived from Lombardy.
The case on “Chi l’ha visto?”
To maximize the spread of Ruben’s image, the lawyer also contacted the program “Chi l’ha visto?” The association Penelope Marche, however, was not directly involved by the family or the lawyer but acted independently or through other channels.
