Modena, September 12, 2026 – Four short videos, two filmed on May 15 and two after midnight, therefore on May 16, the day of the attack in downtown Modena. Delirious videos, almost all in English in which Salim El Koudri also seems to talk to people not present, criticizing well-known influencers and other public figures and, in general, the Western system.

This is what has emerged in recent hours about the terrible attack on May 16 in via Emilia Centro. The suspect, Salim El Koudri, points the phone at himself and then ‘abandons’ himself to long monologues, ramblings lasting a few minutes, five at most. The videos – recovered from the young man’s phone following extensive work by the Digos – have been transferred for the purpose of the psychiatric evaluation to which El Koudri was subjected in recent days and then made available to the prosecutors’ consultants and the parties.

Contempt for Western culture

In the videos, indeed, the suspect expresses contempt towards some well-known Italian influencers but also towards – in general – Western culture. Among the material transferred are also some ‘Trump memes.’ It seems that Salim also expressed criticism of the American system. A hearing is expected shortly during which the appointed experts will be called to express their opinion on the psychological conditions of the suspect and, above all, whether on the day of the terrible massacre he was capable of understanding and willing.
The death of Monica Esposito

We recall that Monica Esposito lost her life following the attack while seven other people were seriously injured. There are currently no evident signs of radicalization of the 31-year-old: it appears that he watched videos of a massacre in Northern Europe in the past, but at an unsuspicious time. No suspicious meetings, however, during his solitary travels in Europe.
