Rimini, July 28, 2026 – Vasco Rossi will be an honorary citizen of Rimini. But there are those who say ‘no’. There was no unanimity on Thursday, July 28 on the proposal presented by former deputy mayor Gloria Lisi. A proposal that split the chamber. The League, as announced, voted against, as did Matteo Angelini (Lista 3V). And Brothers of Italy controversially left the chamber before the vote, “due to the unfortunate discussion on the proposal,” with only councilor Ada Di Campi – joining by video link – deciding to abstain. In the end, 18 votes in favor, 5 against, and one abstention. Green light for honorary citizenship to the Komandante, but what a struggle… For Matteo Zoccarato, leader of the League, “many other ways could have been found to ‘thank’ Vasco, who every time he is in Rimini brings many people and a lot of money… But honorary citizenship is granted for the values embodied by the person to whom it is given.” Values that, according to the minority councilor and former deputy mayor Lisi, on the contrary Vasco embodies, “because he has shown to have a special bond with the city.” The majority said ‘yes’ to honorary citizenship, but grudgingly. And Giovanni Casadei of the PD did not hide his embarrassment: “I wonder what I will answer my voters when they ask me about this decision. I vote in favor out of party discipline…”

Petrucci (Dem): “Lisi could have handled it differently since there were divisions”
Trying to set things right is Matteo Petrucci, leader of the Dems, because “the proposal makes sense due to Vasco’s bond with the city. Accusations rejected by Lisi. But the ‘no’ votes came precisely from the minority. To the League’s opposing vote was added that of Matteo Angelini (Lista 3V), who reproaches Vasco for his position on vaccines during Covid. But in the end, the proposal passed, thanks to the vote of the majority and the Lisi group, while FdI left the chamber, with only Di Campi abstaining. The mayor was absent from the council, and the assessor Francesco Bragagni spoke on the matter. “I express regret because a topic like this would have required greater sharing.
