Bologna, August 26 – The cost of fuel continues to weigh more and more heavily on the pockets of Bolognese residents. Especially in these days of return from holidays and vacations for thousands of motorists. However, driving around the city and province, it’s impossible not to notice that prices of 1.80 euros per liter (a value that is already not low) for petrol and diesel are now a distant memory. A situation opposite to that of Valle Castellana, in Abruzzo, a stone’s throw from the border with the province of Ascoli Piceno, where the mayor Camillo D’Angelo had an idea: to contribute as a municipal administration to fuel costs to keep prices down: from 1.75 euros per liter for petrol and at 1.89 for diesel. And so ‘The Mayor’s Petrol’ was born.

The official tool for checking real-time prices is the portal of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy “Fuel Price Observatory”, which records communications sent by operators and allows real-time consultation of fuel prices practiced at local stations. The recommendation, however, is to check the values often, because they can change even during the same day. The site, in fact, advises checking the date of the last update before reaching a petrol station.
As of August 26, diesel in Bologna has exceeded 2.150 euros per liter, while petrol is around 2.010 euros per liter. Here is a comparison between 10 petrol stations in the province.
Cheapest petrol
“Where can I spend less on petrol?”. To this question, which we imagine many have asked themselves recently, according to Osservaprezzi, the answer is that the most convenient price among those detected is at the service station Eni on the state road in Pianoro, at kilometer 94. Here the fuel is indicated at 1.859 euros per liter.

Rounding out the podium are Roil Eco2 of Mordano and the Eni plant in Imola, both at 1.939 euros per liter. From fourth to seventh place among the least expensive petrol stations, the figures are more or less the same value: 1.957 euros per liter in Vergato, at Carburanti Vico, the Conad of via Gazzoni in Bologna, BC of via Enrico Mattei also in Bologna city and the station in San Giovanni in Persiceto. The ranking of prices detected by the ministry is closed by: Roil in San Giovanni in Persiceto, at 1.958 euros per liter, and Coil of via Marco Emilio Lepido, also at 1.958 euros.
The diesel front: no value below 2 euros
On the diesel front, however, the lowest price in the sample was detected in Mordano, at Roil Eco02, with diesel at 2.039 euros per liter. There is a petrol station in Imola that registers diesel at 1.785 euros per liter, but it is reportedly no longer active.

Slightly above are the Tamoil in Medicina, at 2.048 euros, and Sprint Gas Stalingrado in Bologna city, at 2.049 euros. Diesel reaches 2.059 euros per liter at the Esso of San Lazzaro, while in San Giovanni in Persiceto the indicated price is 2.068 euros.
In Bologna, Q8 Station of via Calabria and Bologna Mazzini of via Mazzini both register 2.069 euros per liter. Among the reported values, the highest are Eni of piazza Manfredi Azzarita in Bologna and Eni Spa of Castel Maggiore, both at 2.074 euros per liter. The highest price in the sample for diesel is that of the Imola Enilive Station of via Emilia Ponente 41b, with 2.079 euros per liter.

Government measures
The Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, and the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, have signed the decree that activates the mechanism of the so-called mobile excise duties. The measure uses the extra VAT revenue generated by the increase in fuel prices. The provision also allows to maintain the August 25 and 26 tax reduction on diesel, which would otherwise have ended at midnight on August 24.

The overall benefit remains equal to about 17 cents per liter. Recommendations The comparison between the various prices highlights that the cost of a full tank increases day by day. For this reason, it is advisable to compare prices before refueling: both to save money and to check that the value reported by the ministry is the same as in previous hours. In fact, it should be remembered that the reported values can vary over time and depending on the refueling method.
