Cingoli, July 16, 2026 – They enter the apartment of Cornelia Daniela Merz, the 65-year-old found lifeless in the bedroom, deceased for at least two months for a delicate post-mortem remediation intervention. But they discover a treasure of 136,900 euros in banknotes, neatly placed inside some white envelopes and stored here and there, among the memories of a lifetime. This is what happened to two technicians from Ekonore, a specialized company with its legal headquarters in Milan and operational headquarters in Viareggio, on a business trip to Cingoli. Who Cornelia was
Cornelia Daniela Merz, a 65-year-old housewife, originally from Switzerland, had been dead for over two months. After the discovery of the lifeless body, the husband and son, aged 74 and 43 from Cingoli, were taken to the Jesi hospital for the necessary checks. The case revealed a story that no one had even vaguely suspected. The alarm was raised by the Jesi mental health department: there the couple’s son from Cingoli, who is disabled, was being followed. However, for some time the 43-year-old had not attended the necessary appointments for his therapy, so the medical staff reported the situation to the social services of Cingoli, asking for some checks to be made. In the same days, a report came from a neighbor, worried because the 65-year-old housewife, who only left the house with her husband, had not been seen for some time.
