Bologna, July 21, 2026 – The Public Prosecutor’s Office is carrying out investigations on six people: these are two police officers from the Bolognina Police Station and four Red Cross healthcare workers. To clarify the circumstances and causes of the death of Abderahim Fakir, which occurred on Sunday in via Svevo in Bologna during a police intervention, the six people have been registered under model 45 bis, the so-called ’shield-norm’, provided for by the security decree: on a separate register, intended for preliminary annotations, the names of subjects to whom a crime committed in the presence of a cause of justification is attributed are entered. It is the first time. All six were interviewed by investigators and gave their version of events. The hypothesis of crime is negligent homicide (prosecutor Ambrosino, coordinated by prosecutor Guido). The Mobile Squad is investigating the matter. The autopsy will be conducted by a pool of doctors for a collegial expert opinion.
“The investigations will take into account the entire development of the facts (of a wider temporal extent than the video circulated online so far, also acquired by this Office) and the intervention of both law enforcement and healthcare personnel,” said chief prosecutor Paolo Guido. The bodycam videos of the officers have been acquired, in addition to the video circulated from the first moments and which has already been analyzed by investigators. For the previous containment phase, investigators are interviewing eyewitnesses. A tragedy that, in total, lasted less than forty minutes: from the first calls at 12:15 PM to around 1:00 PM, when the man no longer moved.

“With this case, I hope not to see a film already seen with Riccardo Magherini and Federico Aldrovandi – emphasizes lawyer Fabio Anselmo, who assists Fakir’s family –. But the investigations into the current matter, as the ECHR requires, should be carried out by an autonomous body and not by the same one to which the people involved belong (in this case, the Mobile Squad, editor’s note).” Anselmo has previously dealt with cases such as those of Stefano Cucchi and Federico Aldrovandi. According to what emerged, the 42-year-old had a record of drug dealing and resistance, which also culminated in arrest.
