Bologna, September 10, 2026 – “I have never heard Francesco pronounce the word ‘will’. Never. It was a topic that, at least with me, he never addressed.” The journalist and comedian Giorgio Comaschi responds this way to those who ask him what he thinks about the inheritance matter of Francesco Guccini, who passed away last August 6 at the age of 86. The last will deposited in 2022, in fact, establishes that the houses in Pavana and via Paolo Fabbri 43, Guccini’s symbolic residence, go to wife Raffaella Zuccari along with the management of the copyright. But half of the proceeds from the latter will go to the daughter Teresa, who will also receive some family items.

What is your opinion on the will of your friend Guccini?
“I’m not the first person to be called about this, and I must say I’m surprised. Francesco never spoke about it with me, it was a topic we never touched on, so I can’t add much. To make a comparison, I knew that Lucio Dalla had been to the notary several times, although I was told that on one occasion he even left before meeting the professional (he smiles, editor’s note). But Francesco honestly never told me anything. I can only confirm that he was a person who never threw anything away, always very generous. He did favors for friends who needed them, often quietly.”

If a dispute were to arise particularly over the house at via Paolo Fabbri 43, would you be surprised?
“In all families in the world, when a person’s last wishes are made known and there are multiple heirs, things don’t always go smoothly. I might have thought he left everything to Raffaella and Teresa, but they don’t know the relationships between them, nor, I must say, have I ever thought much about it. I don’t know the terms of the matter, which is family and private.”

What was Guccini’s relationship with death? Did he think about it often?
“Since the Seventies, Francesco has talked about death (he smiles, editor’s note). His cosmic pessimism was a way to exorcise the fear of death. And then, I’ll tell you, in the last period, despite all the ailments, especially maculopathy, I found him in good spirits. Of course, the phone calls were starting to be tiring, so much so that I had stopped contacting him to avoid tiring him, but he was still able to joke about his health problems.”
Did you ever talk about Raffaella and Teresa?
“About the ex-wife, never, I would say. About our wives, yes, but as friends do, normal conversations joking about their partners. We even went on vacation together, all four of us. He also spoke little about Teresa, but keep in mind that we were friends at the table, for drinks, for projects, I was not among his closest friends anyway.”
