Bologna, September 9, 2026 – Student hit immediately after the high school final exam and died after a month and a half in the hospital: investigations continue into the death of Alberto Cremonini, 19 years old, and now the public prosecutor is considering medical liability. In the coming days, a specialist will be appointed to assist the medical examiner. Meanwhile, the local police, on behalf of the judicial authority, have requested the medical records of Cremonini.

And the hospital promptly delivered the necessary materials for the investigations. The request arrived on the very day of death, August 16. The boy was hit by a car on July 2 on Viale Pepoli, near the Righi high school, where he had just taken the oral final exam: he was hit right on the crosswalk.

He passed away after 45 days of agony. Cremonini, known to everyone as ‘Crema’, lived in Castagnolo (San Giovanni in Persiceto) and that day he was crossing to catch the bus to go home. Now there is an investigation for vehicular manslaughter: the driver of the car, a 59-year-old, is under investigation. The local police are investigating, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office (the file is with prosecutor Tommaso Pierini). An autopsy was performed by medical examiner Luca Diani.

Given the sensitivity of the case, due to the circumstances and also the very young age of the victim, the Prosecutor’s Office wants to clarify and will deepen the investigation, starting with the appointment of the specialist in the coming days.

Who was Alberto Cremonini

Cremonini had attended the Scientific track at the institute on Viale Pepoli, sitting among the desks of class 5E. With his classmates, he had taken the final exam, the high school graduation. On July 2, the oral exam, which Cremonini approached with his mind already on university. In fact, shortly before, he had taken the admission test to enter Engineering.

After the accident, Alberto was immediately transferred with a medium severity code to Maggiore, where he arrived by emergency vehicle, conscious and alert. For this reason, no one could have ever imagined the tragic outcome. After a few days, his condition worsened. Then, the transfer to Sant’Orsola, where he spent days in intensive care. Until his death, on August 16.

He had been playing guitar for many years, he was a passionate musician. The music school expressed the intention to organize an event to remember him. Upon hearing the news of his death, the students at the school were in shock. “I still can’t believe it. With my colleagues, these days, we talk about nothing else,” commented in August Sergio Altamura, his music teacher at the Anzola Cultural Center. “The thought that it’s absurd that a 19-year-old boy left us like this doesn’t leave us in peace. He had many dreams, many of those dreams were in music. I have followed him since he was 11 years old. He came when he was smaller than me and left taller than me. And now Alberto is no longer here, it’s almost impossible to accept this.”

The family: “We will always carry you in our hearts”

“How can one accept something like this? It’s impossible,” said also Max D’Adda, one of Alberto’s music teachers, recalling “his serenity, his cheerfulness, his eagerness to do, to learn, always.”

“Life with you was a wonderful journey, though too short, through a blooming garden where you knew how to pick the most beautiful flowers for us. We will carry you in our hearts and minds always, always, always,” the phrase the family shared on Alberto’s memorial card.
