Reggio Emilia, July 29, 2026 – After years of rumors about the possible arrival of Ikea in Reggio Emilia, the Swedish company opens a ‘plan and order point’ inside the shopping center I Petali. It is not a real store like those in Parma and Bologna, but a format capable of guiding people in designing their own home and commercial activities. The space, which extends over an area of about 165 square meters, is dedicated to the design of all home environments, from the kitchen to the living room to the bedrooms, and workspaces, whether offices or commercial activities.

“New opening to make Ikea increasingly accessible”
With the assistance of consultants (ten jobs created, 9 employees plus the store manager) it will be possible to access the entire Ikea catalog and define the delivery methods and times best suited to individual needs.
“This new opening comes from the desire to make Ikea increasingly accessible, providing skills, services, and personalized consultations to help people shape their dreams and projects,” said Philip Albert Freese, area manager of Ikea Italy.
Furniture donated to two homes for disabled people
Furthermore, Ikea supports the Reggio Emilia community by donating furniture to the socio-occupational project Cto Labor in Felina di Castelnovo Monti, managed by the social cooperative Il Ginepro. But also with Casa Marzi – ‘After Us’ in Scandiano, in collaboration with the social cooperative Lo Stradello to create an inclusive village for people with disabilities who are not fully self-sufficient. The facility includes four apartments designed to promote autonomy, independent living, and active participation. These initiatives are part of the broader Ikea project called ‘A place to call home’.
