How to vote in the runoff in Comacchio and Vignola

The runoff ballot contains the names and surnames of the two candidates for mayor, written within a rectangle.

Below each name are reproduced the symbols of the linked lists. The lists supporting the candidates may be more numerous than those in the first round, depending on whether “alliances” have been formed with other lists that did not make it to the runoff.

How to vote without making a mistake

The vote is cast by drawing a mark on the rectangle where the name of the chosen candidate is written. The vote is valid even if: the voter places a cross on the symbol of one of the linked lists (and it counts for the mayoral candidate supported by that list) the voter places a cross both on the name of the mayoral candidate and on the symbol of one or more of the linked lists

Split vote and runoff

For the runoff, a split vote is not allowed. The ballot is void if it shows a mark on the name of one mayoral candidate and one on the symbol of a list supporting the other candidate.

Who wins the runoff?

The candidate who obtains the highest number of valid votes is proclaimed mayor.

In case of a tie, the candidate linked to the list or group of lists for the election of the municipal council that achieved the highest overall electoral figure is elected.

In case of an electoral figure tie, the oldest candidate is proclaimed mayor.
