Bologna, August 12, 2026 – A 23-year-old Frenchman identified in recent days, along with two other compatriot and peer accomplices, was on vacation in Italy with a group of six other friends and is recognized as the author of the writing against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that appeared in vicolo Bianchetti on the night between August 4 and 5. The young man has been reported at large for defacement and vandalism, threat, violence or threat to a political, administrative or judicial body or its individual members, and contempt of the Republic, constitutional institutions, and the Armed Forces, all aggravated by conspiracy and ethnic hatred.
The 23-year-old Frenchman and two of his friends, who have already returned abroad, are also accused by the State Police not only of the graffiti painted in black paint in vicolo Bianchetti – depicting Prime Minister Meloni with a gun pointed at her temple and the writing “Death to Meloni and the fascists” – but also of writings against the police, anarchist symbols, and further anti-Semitic phrases that appeared the same night between vicolo Bianchetti, piazza Aldrovandi, and Strada Maggiore.
The investigative activity after a citizen’s report to 112
The investigative activity, conducted by the operators of the Digos of Bologna, began from a report received at the emergency number 112 from a citizen who had noticed a group of people defacing the facades of some buildings in various streets in the city center. From there, investigations were launched also through the review of surveillance footage.
What gave away the 23-year-old Frenchman, who after the vandalism fled with his friends taking refuge in an apartment on viale Carducci, was the t-shirt of a well-known football club he was wearing at the time of the vandalism.
The 23-year-old is still in Italy: subjected to a search
Against the young man, still in Italy unlike his friends, a home and personal search by Digos and Scientific Police was carried out.
The search allowed the investigators to find and seize the t-shirt identified as the one worn by the young man at the time of the events. The investigative activity is now proceeding to complete the identification of all those responsible for the raid of threats painted on the city walls.
Writings on the walls also against Lepore
In addition to the writings against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the State Police, the mayor Matteo Lepore has recently also become a target of the hate writers.
The first citizen, already targeted after the death of Fakir and the street clashes of July 19 and 20 amid personal threats and a boom of comments from fake profiles, has unwillingly also been the protagonist of a new writing that appeared in via Galliera: “Lepore, after Guccini it’s your turn” between the two A’s of Anarchy.
The writing, near the Disco d’Oro music store, was brought to the attention of the municipal administration, which ordered the removal of the offensive and threatening writing against the mayor, as well as promising that a formal complaint will also be filed with the judicial authority in this case.
