The Montese murder and the points still to clarify
In particular, the times and movements related to that night remain to be clarified. What happened between 5 a.m. when a resident heard a scream and 8 a.m. when the same witness helped the desperate wife after the body was found? Who is the alleged killer who knocked on the door at dawn? The cameras in the area are also under review; footage would have been acquired to reconstruct the events and identify cars that passed by at the time of the crime.
“At quarter past 5 I heard a scream – said a resident of the building who alerted emergency services – but I thought it came from the street and didn’t pay much attention, later around 8 I heard the wife’s cries. She was with a friend, she had left the house in tears after seeing her husband on the ground.”
In the tense situation and in an attempt to ask for help, the woman had locked herself out of the basement apartment because her husband’s body, fatally wounded, was pressing against the door from the inside.
“I took a tool from my garage and opened the door – the neighbor continued – there was blood on the floor. The wife wouldn’t stop crying, I let her into my apartment and gave her a glass of water.”
Who the victim was: the quiet life of Daouda Sangarè
Daouda Sangarè, originally from Guinea but born and raised in Ivory Coast. He worked as a welder. Unfortunately, when emergency services arrived, there was nothing more to be done for him: he had been stabbed in vital parts of his body.
According to some witnesses, the night before the murder he had gone with friends to the square in Montese where the village festival was taking place and returned home at midnight.
Daouda had been living in Montese for several years, but had only recently arrived on via Righi, about a month ago.
He had moved from the hamlet of Salto where he worked as a welder at the Bernabei company.
An apparently quiet life.
Every morning around 6 he had breakfast in town, a barista says, before going to work. A few weeks ago he had reunited with his wife, who had arrived from Africa.
Twenty days since another murder in the Modena area
The Montese murder occurred just 20 days after another brutal crime in the province of Modena, that of Rolando D’Ulizia, 44, stabbed to death by the countrywoman Giorgia De Martino on via Tignale Del Garda.
