The intervention of the emergency medical service 118 and the Civil Police for rescue and initial investigations was immediate.
A sudden gust of wind betrayed the two-seater
The aircraft may have been betrayed by a sudden gust: several witnesses report intense wind gusts in the area, where a yellow weather alert was active.
It will now be up to the authorities’ investigations to clarify the exact dynamics of the events and assess the flight safety conditions.
The fury of the storm breaks a large plane tree in Bologna
In Bologna, in the Bolognina district, a large plane tree broke under the fury of last night’s storm. The trunk of the tree – for which the Besta Committee and other environmental groups had fought to stop its felling, planned by the Municipality due to the tree’s “extreme danger” – gave way to wind and rain, causing the crown and branches to fall inside the garden of the Casaralta elementary school, remaining precariously balanced on the fence delimiting the courtyard.
A narrowly avoided tragedy. The Municipality of Bologna commented on the event stating: “The risk we had reported was real. You cannot prevent safety measures from being taken without also taking responsibility for what may happen.”
In Forlì, a city scarred by bad weather
The mayor of Forlì, Gian Luca Zattini, has officially requested the Emilia-Romagna Region to recognize the state of emergency. The request follows the devastating tornado on Friday, which hit the city with wind gusts up to 120 km/h. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, but the storm swept away trees and crops, causing significant damage. Activating Civil Protection procedures is essential to unlock contributions and aid for citizens and the Municipality.

A preliminary estimate indicates hundreds of thousands of euros just for emergency interventions. Most of the damage concerns the tree heritage: the Resistance Park is unrecognizable and will remain closed for weeks, said the mayor. Numerous public gardens are seriously compromised and tons of debris still occupy streets and sidewalks. The Gotti facility and the Vecchiazzano sports complex are also heavily disfigured. Finally, the damage count extends to private homes, productive activities, and the agricultural sector.
Downpour causes damage to the hospital in the Ancona area
A violent downpour struck this morning around 10 a.m. in Jesi and the entire Vallesina, causing extensive flooding along the road axis connecting Fabriano and Jesi. Flooding also occurred in the paper city. The cloudburst, accompanied by lightning and thunder, caused heavy disruptions along the highway, where long queues formed and lively protests arose from motorists and truck drivers forced to proceed through huge water stagnations and particularly critical asphalt conditions. The situation is difficult for Jesi’s urban road network, with streets turned into streams and affected by falling branches, such as in Viale della Vittoria near the former hospital.
Viale del Lavoro, Via San Giuseppe at the Granita bridge, and the intersection with Via Marche are flooded and partly impassable. Rainwater also flooded garages and ground floor rooms. The greatest criticality is recorded at Carlo Urbani hospital in Jesi, where torrential rain penetrated the healthcare facility, flooding the corridors on the third floor and various wards, including Obstetrics, reintroducing the problem of water infiltration.
Cloudburst and flooding in the Fermano area
A heavy downpour literally poured down today on Porto Sant’Elpidio, causing a series of disruptions that required the intervention of 4 fire brigade teams, the local civil protection, and promptly supported by the regional one, as well as the local police to try to manage traffic submerged underwater both along the State Road and in many city streets. “All railway underpasses flooded – reports Deputy Mayor Andrea Balestrieri, who promptly activated the Emergency Operations Center – except for the one on Via Pesaro. In the underpass on Via Canada, the alert system worked perfectly with the activation of the traffic light to prohibit transit at the critical point, but drivers still ventured to cross, getting stuck and requiring the intervention of the firefighters.”

More than 30 reports were received by the Civil Protection number, immediately communicated through social media, for flooding situations along various stretches of the State Road “and considering the time when the downpour occurred, the chaos and difficulties that inevitably arose are imaginable,” comments Balestrieri, but underwater also went Via Marina (at Faleriense), Via San Francesco d’Assisi, Via XX Settembre, Via Cilea, Via 2 Giugno, and others, along with several basements and ground floors of flooded homes.
“Since 1:30 p.m. – updates the deputy mayor – firefighters have been trying to drain the water and the situation is gradually returning to normal. The sewage system held as long as it could, but the amount of water was really enormous.”
Usual flooding and disruptions also in Casette d’Ete of Sant’Elpidio a Mare where the sewers did not withstand the amount of water and so, once again, basements of adjacent homes were flooded, as well as repeated flooding situations on Via La Masa: all criticalities already widely reported and known to the administration.
