Rimini, August 25, 2026 – The news of the tragedy arrived on the day when Pennabilli was celebrating the visit of Pope Leo. Since Saturday, at every mass, “we pray and remember Alessandra.” The whole town has united in grief for the family of Alessandra Sabba, the 49-year-old who died from the severe injuries sustained in the road accident that occurred on Friday in Sardinia, where she was on vacation with her husband and two children.
The family members still hospitalized
The collision between their car, driven by the husband, and a Fiat Ducato van took place in the locality of Casagliana, along the road between Olbia and Arzachena. When Alessandra arrived at the hospital, she was already in critical condition. Unfortunately, she did not make it. Her family authorized the organ donation. Both the husband, Roberto Marani, and the couple’s two children, a 13-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, are still hospitalized. Fortunately, they are not in serious condition and will be discharged soon.
Alessandra: “A generous woman attentive to others”
Don Mirco Cesarini, one of the priests of the Ponte Messa parish in Pennabilli – as well as vicar of the diocese of San Marino and Montefeltro – has managed to speak several times in recent days with Alessandra’s husband. “We exchanged some messages. And they should be discharged soon.”

Alessandra, who worked as an accountant, regularly attended the parish with her family. “A generous woman attentive to others. A beautiful family. We are devastated by the tragedy. Since Saturday we have been praying for her and her family.” A closeness made of prayers and concrete gestures. A vigil in memory of Alessandra will be held in a few days. The date of the funeral is not yet set: we will have to wait for the green light from the Prosecutor’s Office. Then the transport of the body from Sardinia to Pennabilli will have to be organized.
“We have already taken action – assures Mayor Mauro Giannini – to provide all the support to the family for the transport of the body.” But the timing will not be short. That is why the funeral could be held at the end of this week or – more likely – at the beginning of next week.
